The day I made it

Flagstaff Sunset, Arizona

This is from early on with Julie, back when we were on the road a lot more. By summer in Phoenix you start looking north. This meadow outside Flagstaff had gone yellow after the rains, wildflowers all the way out to the Peaks, and the sun was low and soft, nothing like desert light. I stood in the grass longer than I needed to.
